2008 JUDGES
AMY LANASA received
her MFA in Professional Writing from Florida State University's School
of Film. While at Florida State, she also received an MA in Theatre
Studies with an emphasis in Playwriting. Amy's plays include DRIVE-IN
America, which was performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts in 2001 as part of the American College Theatre
Festival; THE LEDGE; THE GOAT CAGE; and THE SUBSTANCE OF CHAOS. Her
plays have been performed in Florida, Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas,
California, New Mexico, and New York. Her films include PERHAPS A
POLKA, which she also directed, and INNER SIGHT, which has played at
film festivals across the country. She teaches screenwriting at New
Mexico State University's Creative Media Institute.
SHERWIN LAU
has been a faculty member in the Creative Media Institute of New Mexico
State University since 2007. In addition to teaching, he has worked on
short and feature films for the last 4 years. He holds an MFA in Film
Production from Florida State University's The Film School, where he
worked on over eighty short films and wrote and directed three,
including several low-budget features. Most recently Sherwin spent two
months in Hong Kong teaching a documentary course
MITCH FOWLER hails
from the Heart of Dixie and holds a BA in Telecommunication and Film
from the University of Alabama, where he played football for the
Crimson Tide. Mitch’s credits include the Academy-Award nominated
documentary Murderball and he holds an MFA in film production from
Florida State University. In the fall of 2007 he moved to New Mexico
and now teaches cinematography and short film production at the
Creative Media Institute of NMSU.
CHRIS AQUINO has
always been interested in film. From 1985 until 1987, Chris found
himself in film school at Columbia College in Chicago, IL. After that
he started a videography business and was successful doing what he
loved to do, make movies. He is currently employed at the Real West
Theater in Silver City, NM. He is also on the board of the WNMU
International Film Society and on the board of Cable Access Television
Silver (CATS).
